A year ago we said No to Social Media!

Fast forward to today: we are sold on the idea...

... but it was not easy. We had to sift through a loft information (aka noise) in order to discover the nuggets that ultimately brought us the results that we were looking for.

We started research

We actually started to research the topic in 2008. We were curious to learn if any of our current customers were on LinkedIn, as LinkedIn was already a well-established professional network (as opposed to the purely social MySpace). We randomly selected about 20 client companies to find out if they were listed on LinkedIn, but we found only 4 people, and none of them were actively using Linkedin.

That's when we said no to social media.

Things changed in 2009

Then in 2009, we had heard from vendors and partners who swore by their social media activities. We figured it was time to revisit the topic, and we had the benefit of veterans who pointed us in the right direction.

We learned quickly that 'social media' is actually a terrible name for that type of online marketing. We much prefer to use the term 'inbound marketing', as that says exactly what we are doing: offer great educational information online in order to catch the attention of people who are searching for that type of information, get them to visit our web site and bring them into our marketing funnel.

Since then, we've started a blog, written a dozen white papers, presented countless webinars, expanded our web site from ~40 pages to over 200 and counting, created pages and profiles for WAC on several online communities.

And in 3 months, we've increased our sales pipeline by ~20 qualified prospects a month and well on our way to close new business.

If we can do it, so can you!

Why are we offering this educational program? We want you to be successful, and since we know that if we had not had guidance in our early days, we would have floundered, or at least, wasted much time and resources, we decided to open up our experience to our customers.

So if you're in the same place we were a year ago, join us for the "Cliff Notes" (or shall we say, the WAC Notes?) on Social Media. We'll share with you our beginning steps from the end of 2009 and our now-full-fledge strategy.
